Get Some Flare

Glendale, CA

Oh skinny jeans! They go with just about everything—from dressy blazers to oversized tees. They’ve been my go-to for years now but I have to say, when I first saw skinnies, I hesitated to slip into a pair. They were just so uncomfortable compared to the baggy 90’s variety I had grown to love. But, times change and so do styles (thankfully).

This season, slimmer-cuts are taking a bit of a back seat because flared jeans are back! Yup, the seventies-inspired bell-bottomed variety.  Designers paraded them up and down the spring runways and so it’s time to start incorporating them into your wardrobe. I know, I know, it can be a bit intimidating at first but as long as you wear them with a good set of heels or booties, you’re golden.  Oh and I also recommend finding a pair with a high-waisted silhouette. It helps to create that curvy waist, long-legged look—I’ll take that please!

I went for an ultra-casual look today and paired my flared denim with a striped tie-top from Forever 21. But you can find flares in any fabric, to work for any occasion—work, play, day or night! Uh oh skinnies, did you hear that?  Sounds like you might be getting replaced!

The Spring Skirt

Westwood, CA

Spring is in the air! And that means it’s time to experiment with dresses, skirts and hemlines in general. Whether you’re into shorts and minis or long sweeping maxis, it’s time to trade out your jeans for something a bit breezier.

Midi skirts have always been a favorite of mine. Perhaps that’s why I wear them season after season (after season!)  Remember this winter look? And this floral printed number? Oh and this one? It’s safe to say I love midi skirts. Effortlessly feminine and always classy, they are a true wardrobe staple. And while I love them ALWAYS, something about the silhouette just screams spring. This one is from Chicwish, the company that has simply mastered the midi. I chose a classic black number because it pairs well with printed tops and bold accessories.  Don’t you love this colorpop handbag from Charming Charlie? This season, a little color goes a long way!

Uniform

Los Angeles, CA

My sister is in L.A for the weekend and I am so happy to have her here.  That means I get to play tourist for the next couple of days, it also means we will be doing lots of exploring, shopping, eating and drinking. So I have been trying to scale back my outfit spending.

Thus, today’s look is a mix of some of my favorite staple pieces.  With cool and cloudy weather, it’s best to play it safe with neutral colors and always-in-season styles.  So I went with a chambray top, black skirt and booties. No matter what I end up getting into, it’s a look that never fails!
