Stumped on what to wear lately? I have never been a fan of this time of year for dressing. It's still hot outside but rocking a sundress seems kind of wrong. After all, there are so many pant styles and fall patterns to test out. If you're looking to try something unexpected, step outside the typical fall color box and go for brighter, more saturated shades. This rose-colored velvet maxi skirt and pumpkin-colored top pair to make a combo that's completely refreshing. I added  hoops and a gold cuff bracelet from Grand Avenue Jewelry. Both pieces are classic with a modern spin, and I love wearing them with just about everything.

NEW OLDIES

Los Angeles, CA

I am constantly updating my wardrobe. My closet is essentially a revolving door of dresses, jeans and a few new trendy pieces. And while I love nothing more than dressing up in something new, I have learned that a good closet cleanout can bring forth some of the best finds. From classic LBDs to button-down skirts and culottes, this recent cleaning uncovered some real gems.

Unlike those save-it-for-forever types, I am the person who deeply enjoys getting rid of unused pieces (I'm looking at you low-rise jeans). So if I do happen to hang onto something after a closet purge, it means something.

I've had this pleated maxi skirt for years. I remember wearing it to my first fashion editor job 4 years ago! It has gotten me through meetings and lunch dates and even a baby shower or two yet I totally forgot about it until last week. I paired it with this cropped cold shoulder top from Nordstrom and it felt brand new all over again. Is there anything better than making an old favorite new again? What are some of your forever keepers?

The Spring Mix

Mar Vista, CA

The days are lighter, brighter and longer which signifies the start of spring--and more importantly--the start of breezy dressing! I fall easily for flowery designs and so this maxi skirt was an easy YES. With a gorgeous silhouette, this number from SHEIN is the perfect way to transition from winter to spring. And I decided to take things up a notch by mixing in some classic striped patterns with my bag and top. I kept the rest of the ensemble muted and ladylike with a skinny belt and delicate jewelry.  It's flirty, fun and perfect for a warmer spring day.
Oh and the best part? This skirt is only $20!
