Twinning

I’ve been lucky to be able to collaborate with lots of brands since creating my blog. But this new partnership with Soludos might be my favorite to date not only because I have been in love with the brand for years, but because I got to do it with my sister! She’s my biggest fan, my best bud, and she knows me better than anyone. Even though we are actually four years apart, people have confused us for twins ever since I can remember.

A few weeks ago, I spent the weekend back in Newburyport where I grew up spending the summer with my family. We wore matching Venetian Mid-heel Booties, hung out at the beach, grilled food on the dock and cuddled my sister’s baby, Ellery. I never feel more myself than I do back there. I think that I hit the family jackpot  in a lot of ways and that’s something that I have come to appreciate more and more over the years. I find reasons to fly back east whenever I can (often once a month) and it makes me feel like I live a lot closer than I actually do.

Here is a Q&A that I did for Soludos that I wanted to share with you guys to get to know a little more about my sister.

What one word best sums up your relationship? Loyal
One thing you would like to steal from her closet? Her jewelry. She has the most incredible vintage styles (and I think this counts because she hangs them in her closet!)

Dream destination for a trip together? A little ocean town or anywhere with wine.

Best personality attribute in your sister? Calm, comforting, and rational. She’s always kept me sane when I am dealing with some sort of life struggle. When I get emotional, she lays out at all the facts and it helps me feel so much better.

What is her most remarkable talent? Her memory. She notices when I’ve rearranged small things in my place, she remembers stories that I told her years ago, and she always knows where she’s going. Without her, I’m often lost!

IN A MAINE STATE OF MIND

York, Maine

I love escaping to New England this time of year. Over Labor Day Weekend, I went to York, Maine to visit my family and to catch the last of summer on the Atlantic. We spent the weekend on the ocean, walked a little nature trail, and hung out at the beach. We had pretty much no cell reception and it was the first time I cracked open a book in about a month. It’s one of those places that’s truly good for the soul.

I wore this outfit to happy hour one night and got lots of messages about the top. It’s really simple but the little lace details make it special. It looks really cute with shorts but I also love it with tucked into high-waisted jeans. To bring it all together, I belted a striped scarf around my waist and added some chunkier white hoops.

Top: c/o Chicwish

Shorts: Revolve

Scarf/Belt: Banana Republic (similar)

Hoops: H&M

Rings: c/o Baublebar

CHILLAX

How’s everybody’s weekend shaping up? It’s been pretty great on my end (despite getting shingles). From baths to home cooked meals (not sure how long it’s been since that’s happened!) to countless episodes of The Crown, this self-care weekend is doing me right. To be honest, I think that getting sick has reminded me that I need to slow down a bit. I was burning the candle at both ends, traveling from the east coast to the west coast then going into the office for a full day, staying at work till 10p then waking up at 7A to record voiceover… it was too much.

I think today, there is so much pressure to be some sort of super-person. Maybe this was always a thing and I just ignored it, but lately, I feel it… a lot. Pressure to travel more, pressure to be a #girlboss, pressure to keep up with my friends’ life milestones, pressure to be funny…. I could go on here. But trying to do and be it all can be exhausting.

Sometimes a weekend free of plans is just good for the soul. Oh and on a fashionable note, isn’t this Chicwish sweater the coziest? Toss it on over graphic tee and jeans and you may have just found your new go-to weekend look.
