WORK IT

Downtown Los Angeles

At this point, I think we can all agree that yoga pants are a wardrobe essential. Whether we're wearing them to yoga class or the coffee shop, we need them. For a while though, I pretty much assumed that workout gear was among the list of throwaway items not worth investing in (kind of like oversized night tee shirts). Yup, I was the girl wearing high school tees and shorts from my cheerleading days to the gym and god knows those were OLD. But over more recent years, I have been introduced to high-quality workout attire and it has really changed my world.

Not only does it motivate me to get my bod into classes more often, but it has actually made my workouts a lot more productive.

This camo set from the Hero Collection at Carbon 38 is silky soft and lightweight, making hot yoga and sweaty gym sessions feel a bit more tolerable. I feel ready to take on even the most challenging of hikes and (lately) even runs in this set. I love the sheer details and pleated waistline (almost as much as I love eating pasta!)  Can't be healthy all the time, right?

ADIOS AMIGOS!

West Hollywood, CA

There are certain pieces that you definitely don’t need by the time you reach your 30’s. Low-rise skinnies, tube-tops, and short denim skirts immediately come to mind. So while I struggle sometimes with tossing away old things, (I am definitely the type that sometimes says, “What if there’s a costume party?” or “What if this style comes back in 3 years?”) I have learned that closet space is more valuable than the possibility of wearing a lace top to an 80’s party.

Another thing I’ve learned? Your style needs to evolve as you mature. And that doesn’t mean you need to abandon your quirky ways or personal preferences. It simply means that you may need to revamp things and adjust from time to time.

For me, I have always loved ultra-girly details: ruffles, lace, bowties—all of it. And I have learned that it’s still ok to pepper that into my wardrobe. However, there are moments and pieces that may be more fitting than others.

This ruffled skirt has garnered me tons of compliments over the last couple of weeks and while it is bordering on young, the length, accessories, and simplicity of the tops I have it paired with here make it perfect for just about everything I take on in my thirty-year-old day.

What are some more styles you guys think we should part ways with?

FALL FLORALS

West Hollywood, CA

lklkl.jpg

I've always wondered this: Why, during the summer, are maxi dresses everywhere, but come fall they seem to disappear? Minis and skirts get new life with the addition of tights and boots but somehow this longer style seems to get left behind. Afterall, it locks in heat, keeping us all sweaty during the summer months. So why are more people not wearing them when things start to chill down?

Thankfully this trend seems to be waning, and there are plenty of ankle-grazing frocks around at the moment. There are slip dresses and dark floral maxis that will look incredible with booties, mules or sneakers. And since it's in the 80's here today, I just wore it as is-- no jacket, no boots, no leggings.
