Time to pack your bags, turn on your out-of-office and head for the sun (and the fun!) It's a time for cookouts and clambakes. Fireworks and family picnics. It's that time of year again-Fourth of July! And this year, I'm heading out for a day of fun in Martha's Vineyard, MA with my family-- an island dotted with American flags, homemade ice cream shops and lobster stands. So instead of going bold in patriotic prints, I'm going for that classic, All-american look.

Off-The-Shoulder Style

Summer is in full swing! That means it’s finally acceptable to wear shorts to a lunch meeting and eat ice cream for dinner...at least that’s what I say! I met my friend Courtney the other day and we pretty much did exactly that. We took a stroll along the picturesque little Venice Street, Abbot Kinney, and we ate at Salt & Straw (my new favorite ice cream place) for dinner. Those Christmas songs have got it all wrong— THIS is the most wonderful time of the year!

Oh and one more reason to love summer? The off-the-shoulder silhouette. From beach cover-ups to breezy tops and dresses, this style is EVERYWHERE right now. Flattering for every figure, it has a distinctive summery feel and pairs well with both flats and wedges alike. I got this little blue number from ROMWE just in time for all of my Fourth of July festivities and it was under $20!  I just wish I grabbed it in a few more colors.

SO Last Season

The past couple of weeks have been a beautiful blur! Barely able to find time to get groceries, I haven’t seen the inside of a clothing store in far too long. So when it came to styling myself for date night this past weekend, I had to get a bit more creative.

For the past month or so, I’ve been looking to my closet for outfit inspiration. It has been amazing. Not only am I saving money, but I actually love giving my old clothes new life. I guess it’s actually pretty ridiculous to feel the need to constantly wear and BUY new pieces all the time but that’s what having a blog will do to you!  

This little dress is an old favorite from Forever 21. I got it two summer’s ago for my trip to France. Remember it? Anyways, it’s still just as adorable as ever. And with a pair of trendy lace-ups, it feels fresh and oh so new.
