That's A Wrap!

The ruana wrap.

It’s the piece you simply can’t go without this season. With so many styling options, it's a great addition to your fall lineup. Cozy and oversized, it’s great for casual outdoor adventures. Simply drape it around your shoulders for that warm blanket feel. Or, if you’re going for a more fitted, poncho style, wrap it and add a belt. I also love wearing it as a big scarf. It looks great! (As long as it’s not THIS big).  Soft and endlessly warm, it also adds a layer of dimension to your look.)  I went with for the plaid because why not—it’s fall— but there are tons of other prints and styles to choose from.  Check out some more of my favorites at the bottom of this post. You really can’t go wrong!

Oh So Boho

Venice Canals, CA

Every once and a while I like to try on the boho trend. Known for rich browns, rustic tones, and in general, fall feelings, it's the style that's everywhere this season. Never big on tassels or fringe, I tend to gravitate towards flowy, free-spirited silhouettes and florals.  This long-sleeve frock from Ruche perfectly blends the two, with crocheted accents and pretty cuffed sleeves. I paired it with round shades and my new floppy fedora, for a look that's oh so boho.

Great for a warmer fall afternoon or brunch with the girls, I wore this dress last weekend to a friend's house in Venice. It seemed especially fitting, since I almost always feel overdressed in that part of town. Undoubtedly still overdressed with high-heeled peep-toe booties, I made my way to the canals. My friends threw a housewarming party over there-- yes they are the luckiest people on earth-- and so we ate BBQ, and I even hopped in a canoe for a bit, yes in my booties. Talk about overdressed!

What are some of your favorite bohemian pieces this season?

Insta-Classic

It’s been a while!  A lot has happened in my world but who cares about that.  Really, all you need to know is that it’s finally starting to feel a bit like fall in LA.  Exciting news? Yes. Because we dress for the seasons around here and it can get pretty unbearable to wear plaids and pants in 90 degree heat.  There is no telling how long this cool-down will last and frankly I’m using that term generously, it’s still in the mid 70’s… but here’s to hoping!

For these months that are cool but not cold, and warm but not steamy, I look to transitional pieces.  This feminine blazer from J.Crew is exactly that. It’s perfect for pulling any look together, any season.  Great with ripped jeans, a baseball hat, a floral dress or in my case today, shorts—a fitted blazer is really girl’s best friend. And this one gets fancy with a pre-popped collar.  I paired it with searsucker shorts, a pink blouse and some riding boots.  I actually had to borrow these boots at the last minute because I forgot mine! Luckily my photographer, Shara, had a pair lying around.

Switch in a pair of heels and this is the easiest outfit to wear to work, while still looking appropriate. I guess that’s the power of a good blazer. Insta-classic!
