Get ready for the weekend, because it’s just moments away!   I put together this cozy little outfit that feels just perfect for a Friday afternoon.   It’s always fun to mix different color shades together- here you’ll see I did it with greens and blues.  They make an outfit pop and bring even the most basic ensembles to life.  Today, I paired a neon yellowish-green sweater with a winter green jacket and tied it all together with a blue necklace and blue jeans.   Now all I need is a hot chocolate and a ticket to the Mile High Stadium and I’d be ready for an AMAZING weekend! (In case I haven’t already told you guys, I’m a huge PATRIOTS fan and I will be spending my weekend praying and rooting for them to win… oh and trying to scheme my way over to Denver to see the game live.)

So whether you’re planning to get some work done, take a little weekend get away, cheer for your favorite team till your face turns red, or curl up with a book and not leave the couch for an entire day- enjoy whatever it is that makes you happy and have a wonderful weekend!

And GO PATS!

R&R.

January 15, 2014

Santa Monica, CA

For the past couple of days (it’s going on five -yikes!), I’ve had little to no voice. Well, actually that’s not true… I have a voice- I just sound like I picked up chain smoking as a hobby and while it’s kind of amusing every once and a while to hear the new strange squawking, rasp that comes out of my mouth when I forget and try to talk… I’m ready for it to be gone.

That being said, I’ve been a bit MIA over here on the blog because I’ve been on the mend.  I’ve been overdosing on chai tea, honey, chicken noodle soup and ginger ale and I’ve been watching episode after episode of Friday Night Lights.  Have you all seen this show?  Ok, so I’ve already seen it, but it’s been a couple years and I have to be honest, I’m sucked right back in as if it’s my first time watching.  If you haven’t watched it- you may want to kill me later for getting you hooked- but seriously, it’s amazing and it’s on Netflix right now so I suggest you take advantage of the treasure that it is, and start watching ASAP.

While all the vegetation and resting has been great, I am starting to finally feel myself again and I’m ready to get back outside and enjoy the beautiful weather that has been happening here in LA this week.  I had lunch down in Santa Monica today at Blue Plate Taco and it was 80 degrees! I know it is mid January, but I hope this weather is here to stay.

I made myself feel better by putting on this midi-skirt and yellow t-shirt (both from Forever21) and paired it with my new Anthropologie necklace that I got for Christmas.  So while I still may not be feeling 100%, I am certainly on my way

Winter Dress Up.

January 9, 2014

Los Angeles, CA

Ok, so I’ve been hearing on the news, from my Mum, on facebook… everywhere basically, about just how very cold it is all across in the country right now, and so I wanted to put together a little cozy winter weather inspired look for you guys today (even though it’s actually in the 70s here in LA).  While I’m not sure why the rest of the country has not migrated to Southern California yet, which would cause even bigger traffic jams than we already have, I do understand that the colder weather also has it’s charm.

When it’s a bit on the chillier side, I like to dress up a chunky or bulky sweater like this one with a skirt (or some shorts) and some tights. Today I’m wearing sheer tights but obviously if you’re someplace colder, substitute those for a thicker pair and suddenly what once felt like a frumpy outfit (had it been paired with jeans) is now a fun, sassy little number.  It is also still an outfit that is warm enough to have you ready for a day or night out on the chilly town.  With tons of snow lying around, heels are not an option, but luckily, you can rock a pair of boots like these, giving yourself a bit of an edgier look, and (most importantly) allowing you to stay comfy.  I added this mustard statement necklace, from thatsmineboutique! for a pop of color amongst the sea of greys and blacks, and voilà!  What do you guys think of this look?
