LIVING IN LINEN

Downtown Los Angeles, CA

It probably isn't news to you at this point, but spring is finally in full swing. That means it's officially time to switch up your style. From florals to flared culottes and more, there are lots of trends to love right now. And on the list of spring things you'll regret not buying are earthy and neutral linen pieces. Right now, the more beige you can wear, the better. Whether it be a jumpsuit or high-rise trousers, I am lightening up my work and after-hours look with lighter shades and linen fabric. A fun alternative to black trousers for the office, I love how timeless these pants look.

WHAT TO WEAR TO WORK

Mar Vista, CA

IMG_9570.jpg

Unless you wear scrubs or a uniform to work, picking out something to wear every day can be a bit of a time suck. But I’ve found that by investing a great pear of pants, you can swap out inexpensive accessories and tops to keep your go-to office look feeling as fresh as a spring bouquet.

These high-waisted black skinnies are a great place to start. Not only do they maintain their shape after weeks (seriously) of wear, but the high waistline makes them incredibly flattering. To add a bit of extra polish to your look, add a belt like this one I snagged for just $23. or a printed top. This animal printed tank is from West Kei, which you can find on sale at Nordstrom Rack. As for the accessories, these trendy, ultra-light acrylic hoops come in a set of two, for just $14. With the addition of a few low-priced pieces, you can add some variety to your weekday look and help answer that perpetual “What should I wear today?” question.

How to Style a Silk Tank

DTLA

A silk blouse is a timeless wardrobe staple but I have to admit, I've really only started investing in them recently. They're so flattering but for some reason when it came to styling them, I always had a hard time. I used to make the mistake of pairing silk tops with similar luxe fabrics (usually in matching pastel shades, don't ask me why) and wind up looking like a kid on Easter Sunday.

I have since discovered that there are lots (and lots) of ways to style a silk top. Perfect for pulling off a classic office look when paired with your favorite high-waisted skinnies, a blazer, and heels, the silk top also looks great on date night tucked into a leather mini skirt. To switch things up, try on ruffles, polka dots, stripes, or styles with oversized sleeves to give your go-to denim skirt/jeans a bit of extra polish.

Today, I went for a monochromatic look by playing with different hues of the same shade. I paired a bronze silk tank with a chocolate polka-dot pencil skirt and cream booties to pull together an outfit that's solid for day or night. So whether you're headed to work or looking for a last-minute dinner ensemble, let the silk blouse become your go-to.
