SUMMER IN THE CITY

The Broad, Los Angeles

IMG_4704.jpg

It's always summer in Los Angeles (yes, we are totally spoiled.) And while the weather is generally lovely over here, we still have lots of "summer-only" events to look forward to and take advantage of from June-August. From outdoor movie screenings to concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, there are lots of reasons to head outdoors this season.

And maybe it's just me but I often find myself doing more after-work drinks and day adventures, too. Life is just more exciting in the summer! To keep up with the season of weekend escapes and dinners downtown, I have decided to add some brighter pieces to my rotation. This sunny maxi dress works well for picnics, weddings, outdoor dinners and even a day at the office.

NOT SO BLACK & WHITE

DTLA

IMG_4254.jpg

Hello Friday! Looking to update your weekend look without going on a shopping spree bender? I hear that. Adding a new accessory or two can really take your classic black and white looks up a notch. This printed dress from Nordstrom Rack is a simple (and affordable!) office or picnic date staple. Layer on the black and white with a pair of oversized resin hoops from Baublebar, a designer belt, or a bold pair of cateye shades. I wore this pair on my recent trip to Italy and it made even the most casual looks feel a bit more polished. Aside from these, I also love tassel earrings and statement rings this season. What are some of your favorite ways to accessorize at the moment?

Wedding Season Style (For Less)

Marina del Rey, CA

IMG_3732.jpg

It's wedding season! And while I love any reason to get dressed up and drink champagne, costs of attending can add up (quickly!) So what can you do to avoid dropping $$$$ on your pal's big day? Find a dress that's classic yet affordable, twist up your hair in a chic little bun (to avoid paying for someone else to do it) and give yourself some extra glow with the right makeup. This pretty dress from Banana Republic Factory is a great call for a daytime/outdoor wedding or even a bridal shower. I love the sweet neck tie detail, but the best part? It's under $35.

So if you're like my pal who has SEVEN weddings to attend this summer this kind of price tag is a lifesaver.
