OJAI ESCAPE

Last month, my Mum came out and visited from New Hampshire. I took her to Ojai for a belated Mother’s Day gift, and though we were only in town for a night, we had the best time. We explored the eclectic little shops (Fig is my favorite), went wine tasting at Ojai Valley Winery, and had the prettiest dinner on the lawn at Ojai Valley Inn. Only an hour and a half outside of LA, Ojai is quickly becoming my new favorite escape spot. More specifically, the Inn is truly an oasis unlike any hotel I’ve stayed at in years. From the views to the magical little lanterns in the trees, I haven’t felt that relaxed in a while.

On our way to dinner, my Mum snapped a few photos of me in this striped maxi dress. It’s so comfy yet the deep v neckline gives it a dressier feel. Because we wanted to do a bit of exploring and walking around the grounds, I wore my new Vionic wedge sandals. Made for comfort, I definitely need to invest in a few more pairs of these for my upcoming summer travel plans.

THE DAy to NIGHT

Sick of being the girl who's lugging a duffel bag to the office? Same. Though I've pretty much mastered the art of jamming as many things as possible into a canvas tote, the whole bathroom change that goes along with switching outfits is usually almost as painful as carrying around an overstuffed bag. Are ya with me?

The key to pulling of the desk to drinks or picnic to dance party look, is simply having a solid foundation piece. A mid-length dress, a printed skirt, a slip dress, a cropped sweater, a cute little jumpsuit—each are endlessly versatile. And with the quick addition of a belt, accessory swap, or shoe change, the transformation is oh so easy.

This mid-length dress from Chicwish is an obvious daytime favorite. The gingham print is screams brunch to me and the longer length makes it office approved. To dress it up a bit, I simply added a bolder red lip, swapped in some statement earrings and red heels. So easy, right?

Ok so I say this, yet I continue to overpack my work bag every day. I swear, one day I'll take my own advice!

Nothing says summer like a sundress. From body-con versions to off-the-shoulder styles, there are endless options to choose from. So many, in fact, that the selection can start to feel overwhelming. And when the weather heats up, there's nothing better than a piece that you can throw on—and go. You know, the kind that only requires a pair of sneakers or sandals and very little thought beyond that? Yup, I'll take one for every day of the week. But when it comes to choosing which ones to go with, it's all about wearability. I go for dresses I can wear from season to season.
