RUFFLED UP

Marina del Rey, CA

The statement top: flirty, fun and fashion-forward, it's the style you need to add to your summer lineup. And while last year it was all about off-the-shoulder shirts, 2017 is shaping up to be a lot more eclectic with ruffles, one-shoulder designs, ribbons, bows and yes, even beaded sleeves. And every retailer from fast fashion to high-end is feeling the statement shirt mania, so no matter how big or small your shopping budget, there are plenty of options out there to choose from. To get you started, today I am wearing this ruffle sleeve, tie-waisted top from SHEIN. It is incredibly affordable (under $20) and between the lavender color and flattering tie-waist design, it's a great place to start.

Another day of sun

Los Angeles, CA

After spending the last few days relaxing with my fam back in New Hampshire, it's back to LA (and back to work) today. It's always a bit tough to make a quick transition between the two coasts, but it's not all bad. Back in California the sun is out and I'm dreaming of my next getaway in this look. Between the rich red hue and puffy sleeves, this off-the-shoulder top is a step above the rest. They look best with high-waisted bottoms and my new white cropped leg jeans from AG Jeans are the perfect pair. I love the edgy step hems. These are the not-so-basic whites you need for summer. Ok now where can I escape to next?

The All-Season Staple

Beverly Hills, CA

There are very few pieces that you can wear in ANY season but when I find them, I tend to load my closet with them. While I may be a California girl, I spend quite a bit of time traveling back east throughout the year and I can still appreciate the importance of a cross-seasonal staple. So what are they?

A great blazer that can take you from the office to the after-party.

Pleated trouser pants- they look great with a tucked in tank and also a cozy knit sweater.

A chic crossbody is a year-round accessory YES.

The chambray shirt is great with white shorts and skinnies but it is also a go-to layering piece during colder months.

The LBD- must I really explain? Dates, dinner-parties, work, play- we need it for everything and one that really flatters.

The suede skirt is great on its own when it's warm, it takes on more of a mod vibe with tights and a leather jacket during colder months.

When it comes to staple pieces, I say it's important to splurge a bit. That is why this gorgeous suede skirt from AG Jeans is a must-have. An investment you'll wear season, after season, it takes on a femme look here with a frilly tank and ruffled mules but can easily go edgy or classic when paired with different tops and accessories. I simply love it. Check out more of my cross-seasonal musts below!
